COVID-19 Update, 29th June 2020: Classes are going ahead online - staggered return to the classroom.

We are starting a staggered return to our classroom. Students affected by a change of location will be contacted by DerDieDas. Most new courses will start in the classroom. Please see each individual course for details.  More details about our online classes can be found here. More details about our COVID-19 safety measures can be found here

Teaching our German classes online. What does this mean?

As of 30th March 2020 all our German classes were delivered online. We are now slowly making our way back into the classroom but certain classes may have to be taught online again if the teacher feels unwell or the current situation changes. We have also added some regular Online Courses to our course list. These courses will be taught via ZOOM for their entire duration.

But what exactly does this mean?
We have put together a list of frequently asked questions.

My course is online. What does this mean?

Your German Course will still take place at the same time as it is scheduled but you will not come together in the same classroom and will meet online instead. Your teacher will still guide you through the lesson and follow our course outline.

What programs do you use?

The program we use is either Skype (Andrea) or ZOOM (all other teachers). Both are very simple to install and the teachers will guide you through it. We will provide you with more detailed instructions after your registration.

What do I need?

You will need a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. Ideally in a quiet place. If you use an older laptop or PC you may need to check if you have a webcam and microphone installed. Your mobile phone will work too but something with a bigger screen will be better suited. If available, please use headphones (not a must).

I'm not good with technology. What if I have technical issues?

We will offer a free 15-minute "system set up session" before the course starts. The aim of this session is to get familiar with the system (ZOOM) and to deal with any technical issues. It is not a class as such as the teacher won't be teaching any German.

How will I get my coursebook? (for new courses)

You have two options.

Option A: You can collect your coursebook from the classroom at Woolloongabba at a set time or you can contact DerDieDas for a more flexible pick up time in Aspley.

Option B: We can mail the book to you. Postage $10. You can add this to your Group course when registering online.

What happens if the situation with Conronavirus improves or gets worse again?

We will follow the advice from the government and Queensland Health. Should it be deemed safe to be in the classroom, then we will teach to face-to-face.
