Our Story
We may seem like a large institute, but we’re truly a small, close-knit German Language School in Brisbane, led by two enthusiastic teachers, Martina and Sarah.
Unlike large nationwide institutes, we focus solely on German, and we believe that’s what makes us special. With us, our learners feel supported and part of something unique. Driven by our passion for teaching German, we are a local school focused on building a welcoming community right here in Brisbane.

​​DerDieDas – German Classes Brisbane started in 2010 when Martina, originally from Innsbruck (Austria), took a leap and moved to Brisbane with her Australian husband. After teaching at various language institutes in Vienna, she wanted to bring the joy of learning German to her new home. What began as a small idea soon grew into a thriving community of language learners, all connected by a love for the German language and culture.
At first, our classes were cosy gatherings in Martina's living room, but we grew fast and soon we needed a bigger space and more teachers. We found a cute little classroom in a nearby church and the most amazing German teacher, Andrea, joined our team.
From those early days, we've turned into this awesome language school with the best teachers ever, all crazy about German! In 2012, Sarah joined the fun as a teacher and she was such a hit that we asked her to help out with administration and course planning, too. And guess what's even better - after over 10 years of working together, Martina and Sarah became official business partners because "together is always better"!
