If you’ve ever wondered where to start learning German, you’re not alone. Many students come to us unsure whether they’re a complete beginner, need a refresher after high school German or want to continue after using apps like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone. Some have even lived in Germany, have a German partner or taken a German exchange, but still aren’t confident about which course to choose.

Figuring out your German level can feel tricky. Should you jump into a beginner class, or are you ready for something more advanced? How do you know what level matches your vocabulary, grammar and speaking skills? That’s exactly what our Sprechstunde sessions are designed to help with.

What Is a Sprechstunde?

A Sprechstunde is an informal, friendly drop-in session where you can talk to one of our experienced German teachers. There’s no pressure! It’s just a chance to get advice, ask questions and explore the right starting point for your learning journey.

During a session, you can:

• Discover your German level: We help you figure out which course is the best fit for your current skills.

• Ask questions about courses: Get details on schedules, materials, levels, and the focus of each class.

• Get personalised advice: Our teachers can recommend a learning path based on your goals, whether it’s speaking confidently, understanding grammar, or preparing for a trip or exchange.

• See our classroom and resources: Have a look at the books and materials we use, and get a feel for our friendly learning environment.

Who Should Attend?

Our Sprechstunde is ideal for anyone who:

• Has studied high school German and wants to refresh or continue learning

• Has tried language apps like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone and isn’t sure what comes next

• Has lived in Germany or taken a German exchange and wants to improve their skills

Tipp: You can also complete the online German placement test beforehand or bring your results to the Sprechstunde. It helps guide the discussion about the right course for you.

How to Join
